A train was stopped in its tracks after thieves left a burning car on the Upfield railway line, at Campbellfield, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The abandoned car was set alight after someone left the car on the tracks between Dunstan and Garner parades at 12.38am.
The driver of the 12.04am Upfield train from Flinders Street saw the burning car and was able to stop in time.
There is no level crossing between the two parades, which are about 600 metres from the Upfield station. The three passengers on board were left to walk home.
Police have confirmed the car was stolen, but details of the make and model have not been released.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade extinguished the fire and police were called.
The line was cleared at 2.10am and no one was injured during the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses and say there could be more than one thief involved.
