After finishing their history unit, pupils came up with the idea for the play.
The script, dances, costumes and music are completely original with input from the pupils.
Director Miranda Donald said the play had become a right of passage for grade 4 pupils passing through the school.
She said the whole of grade 4 would take part, as well as the school rock band, some grade 6s helping with narration and a costume team, adding up to more than 100 people working to put on the show.
“Each year there is a completely different group of children, so their ideas are different, but we try and link it in and make it relevant to the area,” Ms Donald said.
She said the music teacher wrote all the songs, and over the years would now have a repertoire of about 30 songs for the plays.
The play is on the same weekend as the Buninyong Good Life festival, tying in with the festivities.
