Ross behaved in an abusive way because he wasn't getting what he wanted. Anne and her children have lived in fear for 15 years. Commitment doesn't mean living in an abusive relationship.
Seek help and support before it gets to this. Men can change. It just takes a willingness to change. Women and children can get support and advice early and not live a life of fear.
We need to stop the violence before it starts. We need to challenge attitudes and beliefs that are no longer relevant in today's world.
Living in a community where equality and respect is the accepted norm is a great goal and family violence services and the Ballarat community are working hard to achieve this.
