Using the same principle he has applied to coal, it would be a simple matter to also state that water is good for humanity. This is perfectly true and correct.
That is unless you're drowning. The use of coal to generate electricity is now recognised as a major contributor to climate change.
Far from being helpless in the face of this threat, Australian families can instigate major change to the way Australia does business by shifting their savings and superannuation out of funds that are exposed to the fossil-fuel sector.
In fact, one of the largest superannuation funds operating in Victoria is VicSuper with $13 billion of mostly public servants' savings seriously exposed to the fossil-fuel sector, either directly or indirectly through its investment in banks.
In the face of an indifferent Parliament, ordinary investors have power beyond their democratic right to vote that has the potential to arrest the current descent into climate chaos immediately.
