Peace will take a break as he travels overseas, leaving the Lions without one of their most reliable midfielders.
Lions coach Eammon Gill said Peace would be a big loss, given his extreme work rate and on-field leadership.
Peace coached the 2009 and 2011 Redan premierships and shared the coaching position with Gill in 2012.
Gill said Peace was often an underrated player, known to sacrifice his own game for the good of the team.
Redan is also confident of securing the services of 2014 club best and fairest winner Callum Currie after he informed North Ballarat Roosters he would not continue at VFL level next year.
Currie was on the Roosters’ list this year but still played 18 games for Redan. He is yet to officially sign with Redan depending on future work commitments, but Gill said the star midfielder had indicated he wished to stay at City Oval.
Redan bombed out in the preliminary final for the second season in a row this year, going down to Ballarat by 58 points.
