Three units from Ballarat Fire Brigade and Ballarat City attended the fire after 8pm, and once the fire had burned itself out they lit it again to remove the remaining reeds.
Police also attended the scene.
Ballarat City Fire Brigade senior station officer Anthony Pearce said the reeds had been lit again to stop another fire.
