The West Australian, who plays Kyle Braxton on the soap, will judge the men's fashions on the field and meet fans while taking in Ballarat's racing day atmosphere.
Ballarat Turf Club marketing manager Sally Brook said it was a big step to move the race to a Saturday, which will mean there is no Melbourne race for punters to compete with.
"It's getting the kind of prominence it deserves," she said.
"We've never had someone with that kind of national following (as ambassador)."
Mr Westaway is a racing fan, and will be tweeting out tips to his 65,000 followers in the lead-up to the November 22 race day.
The 25-year-old will also have lunch with winners from local and Melbourne radio competitions.
Ms Brook said he was looking forward to meeting some of Ballarat's trainers.
Home and Away fans will find Mr Westaway in the Sportsbet registration tent between races six and seven .
Collingwood defender and former Ballarat Rebel Nathan Brown will also be a race ambassador.
