Lee Brown will return to his home town in season 2015 after nine seasons and two premierships with Waubra.
Brown arrived at the Roos in 2006 and played in their breakthrough flag before again lifting the cup in 2011.
He leaves Waubra having booted 597 goals, including three-straight seasons of more than 100 majors, two of which netted him league goal-kicking awards.
Brown will join last season’s Geoff Taylor Medal winner and new Donald coach Luke Fisher at the Royal Blues.
Ballarat Swans Nick Garner, Chris Prockter and Jackson Hogan have also confirmed they will be joining the club in 2015.
Brown, who will continue living in Miners Rest, said returning to Donald to build on his 99 senior games had been a motivating factor for his move.
“I played interleague with Luke Fisher and got along with him pretty well. After playing against him I know he is going to be a good player,” Brown said.
“I keep in contact with a few Donald guys and met up with one of the recruiters at the Ballarat league grand final while at work. I always planned to do it before I finished and thought this is as good of a time as any.
“My parents and my wife’s parents are from Donald and it makes it easier for them to see the grand kids.”
Brown, who played in 2002 and 2004 senior premierships with Donald, said that he had been told he was always welcome back at Waubra.
“It’s on the way home from Donald matches so no doubt I’ll be calling in on the way home or what not,” Brown said.
Brown played in last season’s losing reserves grand final against Bungaree alongside his brother Rohan, who has joined Beaufort in an assistant role to senior coach Dale Power.
