Linden Fitzpatrick was arrested by Tasmania Police on November 4 in Devonport where he was allegedly staying at a friend's home.
Ballarat Police Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Jaime Gillard said Fitzpatrick allegedly assaulted his former partner at a Little Raglan Street address at 9.30pm on October 29.
The 28-year-old allegedly then stole his former partner's car and drove to Melbourne airport, where he flew to Tasmania the next morning under a false name in an attempt to evade police.
On Monday, November 3, Fitzpatrick did not resist arrest at a Devonport house.
He was remanded to Ballarat Magistrates Court and faced charges relating to aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, breach intervention order and threat to kill on Thursday, November 6.
He did not apply for bail and was remanded until January 29 for a committal mention.
