Short, a former East Ballarat junior, was among a line-up of young cricket stars in the Cricket Australia XI named on Thursday.
The match serves as a warm-up for the touring Indian team before the opening Test in Brisbane next month.
Short featured in a CA National Performance Squad team for a quad series of one-dayers in the off-season against Australian, Indian and South African A teams.
He was promoted to Melbourne Renegades’ primary list and made his Victorian Bushrangers firsts debut in the one-day cup last month.
The match at Gliderol Stadium in Glenelg is the first of two two-dayers for the CA XI.
