Round the Way New York Bakeshop held a New York high tea as part of The Courier’s Good Food Ballarat Month events.
Co-owner Peter Marios said the bakeshop chose to put its own spin on high tea, even though it wasn’t the most traditional.
They served bagels, New York sweets, teas including their version of a herbal iced tea, as well as danishes and savoury treats at the sold-out event.
The new owners of Round The Way Bagels bought Main Road cafe Cake Bakeshop in July and have slowly been making additions and changes.
“It’s been an ongoing process. Every day it’s evolving,” Mr Marios said.
He said Round the Way Bagels came from Ballarat, but having the shop now gave it a Ballarat home.
“Through the Good Food Month we could showcase what we do,” Mr Marios said.
“We are a bit different – so we’re showing that.”
Jess Harrison went to the event for an overdue girls’ catch-up.
Ms Harrison said it was delicious food and a great atmosphere.
“It’s nice to taste everything,” she said.
“I’ve eaten the sweets here before and know they’re good, but it’s been great to try the other foods as well.”
She also plans to attend the Family Hawkers Market on Friday, November 28 as part of The Courier’s Good Food Ballarat Month.
The next event this week will be on Tuesday at The Mallow with a Beer vs Wine Degustation four-course meal with matched wine and beer. Tickets are $110. For more details, phone 5331 1073.
