Sawers, who won the Towners' top honour in 2007, is among a stack of confirmed on-field pick-ups by the club.
The goal-kicking onballer rejoins the Central Highlands Football League from Southern league club Dingley.
Sawers, the son of former AFL umpire Rowan, won The Courier Footballer of the Year award in 2008.
Key forward Peter McGettigan is also touted as an exciting addition.
He is a former VFL player with Sandringham and comes from St Bedes/Mentone Tigers to give the Towners, what they hope, is a long-awaited target in attack.
New senior coach Justin Abrams has also revealed ex-Sebastopol trio Tim Stubbs, Roscoe Frank and Alex Brimacombe, former North Ballarat Roosters tall James Kirby, who arrives from Warracknabeal, and defender Luke Rhodes, from Belconnen Magpies, are on board for 2015.
Abrams' brother-in-law Scott Henning was earlier confirmed as a playing assistant coach and will add some class to the onball brigade.
"The recruits all offer some exceptional leadership and experience for our young playing group," Abrams said.
"They offer flexibility to fill a number of roles, which is fantastic from a coaching perspective."
Club vice-president Mark Mullane said it was a promising start to the pre-season.
"We have been selective with who we have recruited as we needed on-ground leaders and some goal-kickers, which we have got," Mullane said.
"We have retained most of our own players, which is important.
"This is the best recruiting drive we have done this early in the year. Justin has got a great vibe around the club and he has a good coaching panel to help him."
Dunnstown is looking to return to finals for the first time since 2011 after winning just two games last season.
