Basketball was the big winner, with Dr Napthine explaining a $15 million slice of the funding will go towards the redevelopment and expansion of the Wendouree Sports and Events Centre.
This includes six additional multi purpose courts, with a 3000 seat elite show court able to cater for major music and other events.
Sports Minister Damian Drum said a re-elected government will also provide $2.5 million to build new change rooms and club facilities at the CE Brown Reserve, the home of the Lake Wendouree Football Club and Wendouree Cricket Club.
A further $5 million would be invested into Eureka Stadium for improved floodlighting and a new scoreboard.
Ballarat Basketball and the Ballarat Indoor Sports Group presented designs to government and opposition representatives earlier this year as part of the next phase of their push to expand the centre as part of e broader Ballarat major events precinct.
In March, concept designs were released which provided a glimpse into the future of the new facility.
The complex would be located next to the current WSEC in Norman Street.
At the time, Basketball Ballarat chief executive officer Peter Eddy said the goal was to develop a vision that was modern and futuristic but also affordable and functional.
