With only two games separating second from eighth on the ladder, a lack of concentration for one or two weeks can see a team slip three or four places.
Ladder leader Ocean Grove has had only the one hiccup in its near-perfect season; a loss to Queenscliff in round three has it at 6-1.
Geelong West started its premiership defence on track, being unbeaten and on top of the ladder after five rounds, before newcomer Lara and a fired-up Victoria defeated West in consecutive weeks, dropping it back to second position.
Lara has been the team to watch out for this season. Coming back into the division, it has shown no nerves, with only three points separating it from second.
Victoria has had some close games not go its way throughout the season, but a confidence-building win over Geelong West in its last game saw it move into fourth.
