Ms Booth, 24, was one of eight Ballarat entrants in the U.G.L.Y (Understanding, Generous, Likeable, You) Bartender of the Year competition which raised funds for blood cancer research.
Ms Booth works at Seymour’s on Lydiard, which has entered a bartender in the contest for the past few years.
However, this year had special meaning, with one of her workmates’ father dying of cancer earlier in the year.
“We’ve always joined in because we’ve all been touched by cancer,” she said.
Seymour’s on Lydiard holds a trivia night every Thursday, with all funds raised throughout October and November going towards the U.G.L.Y fund, with $800 raised so far.
Victorian Leukaemia Foundation general manager Stephanie Hechenberger said 31 Australians were diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma every day, with treatment often starting within 24 hours.
Other Ballarat entrants include the Peter Lalor Hotel’s Calista Ackroyd, the Royal Mail Hotel’s Amelia Handley, the Ballarat Leagues Club’s Adam Hayes, Freight Bar’s Daniel Rush, George Hotel’s Sam Kalen, Grapes Hotel’s Matt Morgan and Western Hotel’s Samantha Brown.
