SIX up-and-coming athletes have been recognised by the Sportsmen’s Association of Australia Ballarat branch.

The SAA made special presentations to the teenagers at the branch’s annual encouragement awards dinner on Wednesday night.
The awards covered golf, ultimate, boxing, athletics, soccer and mountain bike orienteering.
• Corey Haase, 16 (golf): the Midlands youngster’s achievements this year included helping Ballarat District Golf Association to a senior country title.
• Anthony O’Hagan, 14 (ultimate): a Ballarat Secondary College student, he was selected to represent Australia in the World Under-19 Ultimate (Frisbee) Championships in Italy mid-year. He plays with Ultimate Ballarat and has progressed three state and national titles to the world stage.
• Dylan Mallia, 15 (boxing): a heavyweight with the Ballarat Boxing Academy, he has had a big first year in the ring – claiming a Victorian Golden Gloves.
• Ashlea Bylsma, 16 (track and field): the Damascus College student specialises in the long jump. Her achievements have include state all-schools, Victorian country and state junior titles, as well as silver medals at national level.
• Jordon Stevens, 16 (soccer): he is a student at Damascus College and progressed through junior ranks with Vic Park to this year being the goalkeeper in the Ballarat team which took out regional under-16 championship. Also spent time in the midfield this season as a frequent scorer.
• Declan Dickson, 15 (mountain bike orienteering): he has been a state and national titleholder at middle and long distance events.
