Labor is maintaining its election-winning lead and the Coalition is struggling to make any ground with just eight days until election day, a poll has found.

The Herald Sun/Galaxy poll has Labor ahead 52-48 on two-party preferred terms, which if replicated across the state would give them an eight-seat majority.
According to the poll, the Coalition is set to register a primary vote of 40 per cent, with Labor on 39 per cent. The Greens registered 13 per cent.
The Napthine government will be concerned that the Galaxy primary vote matches up with the most recent Fairfax Ipsos poll, which had the Coalition and Labor locked on 39 per cent.
In two-party preferred, after preferences are allocated by respondents, Labor is well ahead in the Ipsos poll 56 per cent to 44 per cent.
The Napthine government will be seeking to tighten the contest next week and has enlisted former prime minister John Howard to join the Coalition campaign.
