OVER the past two weeks, I have driven past a lonely M.A.D.E, which I still prefer to call the Eureka Centre, and noticed an interesting installation surrounded by tall wire fencing and long grass.

It consists of several "rockets" or "pencils" positioned in an approximate circle and pointed towards the sky.
If you look closely enough you will see a statue of a dog breaking the circle of rockets at the northern side of the installation.
Given its temporary-looking appearance, I assume the installation is part of the 160th anniversary celebrations for Eureka. Hopefully, it will be removed at the conclusion of the Eureka 160 activities as it is a blight on the Eureka landscape, particularly as we showcase the beautiful Eureka Stockade gardens, the 1880s monument and the 2004 Eureka Circle.
It seems to have been prepared fairly early for Eureka 160 and is not being maintained in readiness for the celebrations, given the long grass surrounding it. I have checked the Eureka 160 program and did not notice any mention of the "rocket installation". Can someone explain what it is about?
