Racing lover Denis Napthine will be present at this year's first ever stand-alone Saturday racing event at Dowling Forest, but wasn't about to miss an opportunity to spruik the Government's health credentials.

If re-elected the coalition have promised to invest more than $2.4 million for capital works at the Cooinda Campus of Ballarat Community Health in Learmonth Road.

BCH will receive a further $790,000 investment for refurbishments and enhancements at its Sebastopol campus.

Dr Napthine said the Coalition election commitment would provide an additional $58 million to extend the Rural Capital Support Fund over the next four years.

"This significant investment will allow Ballarat Community Health to consolidate clinical services and to provide improved accommodation for the delivery of allied health services including additional consultation rooms, and a refurbished waiting area, reception and administration area,” Dr Napthine said.

“Staff amenities will also be improved and a new café area established to improve amenities for patients and families.”

“This fund has made a real difference to the lives of those living in rural communities, by expanding the services available at local hospitals, ensuring that people can get the health care they need, closer to home, ” Dr Napthine said.                                                                                                   

Under the promise Ballarat Health Service will also receive a grant of $1.6 million from the new fund to undertake upgrades to 82 patient suites across their Hailey House and PS Hobson aged care campuses.

Health Minister David Davis said the promised funding would include upgrades to ensuites in residents’ rooms, which will provide a significant improvement to overall patient well being at these campuses.
