Rayna Prasad from Melbourne sported a classic black and white look.
"I wanted to go for a retro-vintage look while still being relatively simple," Ms Prasad said.
Leanne Vanderleest wore a floral dress, travelling from Bendigo for the day.
"I saw the dress and loved it - so I bought it without anywhere to wear it to," Ms Vanderleest said.
"My friend said how about the day at the races - so here we are.
"It's bright and floral, yet soft and feminine. I wear black and white suits all week so it's a good contrast."
Chloe Koutsoukis, from Melbourne, was inspired for her outfit by an Instagram picture.
Her dress had thick navy and white stripes, strapless, and sat half way down her calf.
"I sources it after I saw it on Instragram and hired it for the day. Usually it would cost $800 - that wouldn't usually fit in my student budget."
Ms Koutsoukis' male friends all had the goal to dress 'rude' for the day - mainly wearing op shop suits, bright colours and adding floral.
Unlike the Melbourne Cup, there are lots of midriffs showing as girls opt for separates choices.
Sophie Ogilvie wore a pink skirt with a white top.
"I just wanted an outfit that shows my personality," she said.
"It's modest with a high collar and long skirt - but shows off tattoo."
Cup ambassador Jules Zass said she was loving the white.
"We had a lot of digital prints last year - it's great to see a lot again this year," Ms Zass said.
"Everyone is accessorising so well - matching their fascinatior to their shoes to their bags."
