GAI Waterhouse has for the second year in a row taken away riches from Ballarat Cup Day.
Carriages ($7) claimed the third running of the $200,000 Magic Milions Ballarat 2yo Clockwise Classic, 1000m - adding to Waterhouse's 2013 Ballarat Cup win with The Offer.
She made the running in the only clockwise race in Victoria to outgun the previously unbeaten Prompt Return ($1.75 favourite) by two lengths. Moral Outrage ($10) was another two lengths back third.
Carriages had finished third at her only previous start at Randwick.
Gold Coast-based senior owner David Henderson said the filly's debut had left connections deflated, - a race they thought she would go to the races and win.
Waterhouse had to some talking to persuade them to make the trip south, but after the race there was no doubting they had made the right call.
Henderson confirmed Carriages would now be set for the $2m Magic Millions on the Gold Coast in January.
He said he had twice finished second the big one on the Gold Coast.
"She's a smart filly.
"We'll be there having a big crack at it."
Henderson, of Henderson Racing and Breeding, said it was his first time in Ballarat.
He said it was great to chase these Magic MilIons features and get the job done.
Henderson also praised the ride if Craig Williams.
Williams said Carriages experience the right hand direction coupled with her ability to fly out of the gates set up the victory.
"She flew the machine. The intention was to make the most of experience going right handed, " he said.
SOME racegoers were caught off guard, missing the start of the feature event when the public address system carrying the call of the race failed. DAVID BREHAUT

CAULFIELD trainer Mick Price was pleased to shake off a run of near spring misses with a Ballarat Cup Day double.
Price, who had to settle for minor placings at best over the heart of the spring carnival in Melbourne Cup Week, brought up his second win for the day Mighty Like ($11) in the $80,000 City of Ballarat Tonks Plate, 1200m.
The Craig Newitt-ridden five-year-old showed good speed in beating Darren Weir's King Buddy ($21) and well-fancied South Australian raider Tildy Lad ($2.60 favourite) third.
"I have had a lot of seconds and placings in town and it has been driving me mad, so it's good to get a couple of winners," said Price, who sits sixth on the Melbourne metropolitan trainers'' premiership table with
seven wins, 16 seconds and 15 thirds.
The feature open class sprint honours long-time Ballarat Turf Club racing administrator Eric Tonks and was first run in his memory in 2012.
Mighty Like's victory was his sixth from 13 career outings. PAT NOLAN

RACE 9
CHAD Schofield secured riding honours for the day with treble.
His third win came on Zuma Roc ($9) for Caulfield trainer Peter Moody in the $80,000 Isuzu Handicap, 1600m.
The young gun also saluted on Making Mayhem for Mick Price and De Little Engine for Danny O'Brien.
Moody's racing manager Jeff O'Connor said the distance had suited the six-year-old down to the ground.
"We thought with the sprint at the mile, he would have that dash where at the 1400m he might not have had it, so he needed the mile," O'Connor said.
"As they were going to the gates I saw the flags on the infield turn and there is one race every prep when the pattern turns a little bit and we were the benficiary of it," he said.
First-up since July, Zuma Roc is a is a son of Rock Of Gibraltar with $270,000 in stakes to his name from five wins. PAT NOLANHOW THEY FINISHED

RACE 10
TASHBEEH will given time to work through the classes after having the better of older company in the $80,000 Redbank Benchmark Handicap, 1600m.
Euroa trainer David Hayes, who these days is in partnership with nephew Tom Dabernig, said that while Tashbeeh was a progressive three-year-old, he would be given time.
He said the Commands colt had been a slow learner.
Tashbeeh ($3.10 favourite) ran on the pace to down Miss Maggie Beel ($4) by a half length.
Hayes said despite the pattern of his win, he believed Tashbeeh was better coming from further back.
"He was a bit fresh (today)."
He said a race at Flemington on December 13 was the next likely target for Tasbeeh.
Hayes said while it had been a long day in Ballarat, this was the perfect way to finish it. DAVID BREHAUT
