Emergency services were called to the multi-car crash on the Midland Highway, at the intersection of Doyles Road, about 4pm.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said seven people, including a nine-year-old child, were taken to Goulburn Valley Base Hospital with minor injuries. One injured child was trapped on the bus for 45 minutes before being rescued.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the school bus was carrying 28 students when it rear-ended a car as it entered the busy intersection, forcing a chain reaction in which three other vehicles were also hit.
Traffic remains blocked in both directions, she said.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
