The Sebastopol player secured a good win over Colleen Such, from Paynesville, in the semi-final, before defeating Lorraine Burke 21-14 for the 2014 title.
Mount Xavier’s Brian McKeegan represented the BDBD men, but narrowly missed out on making the second round.
IN other news, Mount Xavier’s Joy Adams and Webbcona’s Sarah Braybrook became the BDBD women’s pair’s champions after defeating Leah McArthur and Brooke Ayers (Webbcona) 17-14 at Central Wendouree.
“I was happy with the way my little mate bowled,” Adams said after the win.
The pair are now looking forward to February’s regional finals.
WEEKEND pennant section looks set for a crackerjack second half of the season, as round nine looks to roll into action on Sunday, November 30, instead of the usual Saturday date, due to Shepparton’s Victorian Open scheduling.
Only three games separate second from eighth in division one, and winning away from home is sure to become one of the keys to making the finals series.
Ballarat has set the bar high, dominating the division with an 8 and 0 start. The benchmark side overcame yet another big test last weekend, beating fellow top-two contender Ballarat East by just one shot.
City Oval is no stranger to division one finals and, with a 6-2 start, the club looks a good chance to contest the flag in March.
BMS sits fourth, despite a topsy turvy start to the year, with Creswick and Daylesford just three points behind.
THE draw for the women’s division state singles at City Oval on Tuesday, December 2, requires the following players for a 9.30am start: C Mitchell, M Tait, L McArthur, T Speechley, G Burge, R Armstrong, S Grano, B Ayers, M Haines, J Vincent.
Players required at 11.30am are: J Adams, M Anderson, J Shepherd, R Ryan, J Harman, M Cassells, L Taylor, E Kierce Manager: Nancy Coad Markers: K Geddes, N Thornhill, J Caddy, M Curtis, M Blake.
Players are to make themselves available to mark in the afternoon.
Entries close on December 1 for the Christmas fours tournament at Sebastopol Bowling Club on Wednesday, December 17.
