The gang's Brunswick clubhouse was raided on Wednesday morning as part of a homicide investigation into the death of Dandenong glazier Michael Strike, 38, in May this year.

The raid came after investigators received information that Mr Strike visited the clubhouse the afternoon before he died, with the head of the homicide squad saying he was possibly killed inside.

Heavily armed police tore the doors off the headquarters in Weston Street, and detectives seized security footage and other items they said could relate to Mr Strike's murder.

After police left, Bandidos members  took photos of the damage left behind and a man who said he was the club's president, but refused to give his name, denied having any knowledge or involvement in Mr Strike's death or knowledge of his members having any association with Mr Strike.

He said he contacted solicitor to discuss police handling of the raid.

Police later confirmed the president of the Bandidos was Peter Algie.

Meanwhile, Mr Strike's family pleaded with the public to come forward with information that would give them the answers they desperately needed.

Peter Strike told Fairfax Media his stepson was an adored son, uncle and brother.

"I know those that wouldn't know Michael from a bar of soap would think he's bikie-orientated, but that is so far from the truth," Mr Strike said.

"When we put Michael to rest, Sandra [Michael's mother] touched the coffin and said, 'I know he's gone and until we know who and why this happened, I can't put it to rest.' It's eating her like cancer."

Sandra Strike had recovered from bowel cancer only two months ago.

Why Mr Strike went to the Weston Street headquarters on the afternoon before he died is still under investigation, but detectives believe he was in Brunswick for a meeting.

Police said security footage at the Charles Weston Hotel captured Mr Strike from 4.15pm drinking alone, checking his phone and going in and out of the pub.

Shortly before 5.30pm, CCTV captured Mr Strike walking east along Weston Street towards the Bandidos clubhouse a few hundred metres away.

"Investigators have not been able to account for Michael's whereabouts after this time," homicide squad head Detective Inspector Mick Hughes said.

"We are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who saw him in the Brunswick area to come forward."

While Inspector Hughes said Mr Strike's death did not "definitely involve" an outlaw motorcycle gang, he said it was possible he was killed inside the Bandidos clubhouse.

Police said Mr Strike did not have a direct link to the Bandidos and his last criminal offence was for petty drug crime in 2005.

A passer-by found his partially clothed body propped against a tree opposite the Keilor Cemetery at 11.30am on Sunday, May 25. Some of his clothing and his mobile phone are still missing.

He died as a result of an assault.
