Pizza, pastries and pies will feed hundreds of hungry mouths at The Courier’s Good Food Ballarat Family Hawkers Market.
Fu Man Lou is one of 15 pop-up stalls that will prepare a selection of food and drinks on the night.
Owner and head chef Ryan Dong said Ballarat’s night market had a Melbourne-feel.
“I’ve got a fair bit of experience cooking at the Chinese Moon Festival in Melbourne,” Mr Dong said.
“There was a lot of outside cooking and it was something we did every year.”
Mr Dong will provide pumpkin and pork dumplings and salt and pepper calamari at the market.
“We have to look after our vegetarian customers, so that is why we chose pumpkin dumplings,” he said.
“Pumpkin ... and pork dumplings are also popular in the restaurant.”
Fu Man Lou will use the market to launch its new chili oil product.
“It’s my own special chili oil,” Mr Dong said.
“You can use it however you like, either in noodles or dumplings.”
Fu Man Lou will also sell the chili oil at its Camp Street restaurant.
Freight Bar, The Forge, Mitchell Harris Wine Bar, Le Peche Gourmand, Ballarat Specialist School, Eclectic Tastes, Chat for Tea, Grounded Pleasures, The George Hotel, Ballarat Steakhouse, Ashai, O’Brien Beer, Rebellion Brewery, Kittelty’s and Sovereign Hill will each have a stall.
The family-friendly event will host live music acts including The 3 D’s, Josh Woods, Fox House and Arian Lane.
Breeze Play and Parties will also provide face painting.
The market will be held at the Ballarat Mining Exchange from 5pm until 10pm.
The Courier’s Good Food Ballarat is sponsored by Ballarat Regional Tourism.
