As part of the three-day Regional Pop Up Concert Tour, the past contestants of the hit talent show will take to the stage at City Oval to perform free of charge to Ballarat fans.

Winner of the latest season of The X Factor, Marlisa Ann will perform her recently released debut single Stand by You with a debut of songs from her new self-titled album.

“I’m really looking forward to it; I’m excited to play for my fans,” she said.

“My fans are awesome ... an artist isn’t anything without their fans.

“So this is about getting out there and just enjoying the music.”

Event manager Steffan Jurd said in an effort to bring free concerts to regional communities, the Regional Pop Up Concert Tour looked to promote Australian music and develop local talent.

“Music events like this one in Ballarat are popping up all throughout regional centres over New South Wales and Victoria, bringing a range of artists to interact with local audiences and play alongside fellow, local performers,” he said.

“These events give something back to those dedicated fans that follow these artists closely, but they also aim to reach a wider, more general audience, being completely free and open events.

“It gives a chance for everyone to come and sample the entertainment on offer ... an opportunity that they may not necessarily take up if the event was closed and ticketed.

“This event is unique in that it enables fans to not only see their favourite artists live and free, but also interact with them personally through a meet-and-greet session that will occur after the performances.”

Mr Jurd said open-music event such as this often contributed to helping solve a wide range of diffi culties that individuals and communities face.

“Open and free events create inclusion and harmony within communities and diminish isolation that some may experience,” he said.

“Hopefully, this event will encourage people to come along, enjoy the great entertainment and get them interacting with their fellow community members.” Marlisa Ann will be accompanied by the winner of the 2012 season of The X Factor, Samantha Jade, who is set to perform hit singles What You’ve Done to Me, Solider, Firestarter, Up! and Sweet Talk.

Local performers will also take to the stage from 10.30am, with Samantha Jade performing at 12pm followed by Marlisa Ann at 12.45pm.

Fans will also have the chance to meet the performers following the concert, between 1.15-2.30pm.
