LAST night I told you about my secret obsession with ballroom dancing. But there is a side to ballroom that I didn't mention which is totally sexy, fun and super popular.

This side is more like the dancing you see on Dancing with the Stars. Many people probably aren't aware that Ballarat is home to the 2012 Australian National Latin Champions Abbey Ross and Joel Conroy and, lucky for us, they run their own dance studio with Abbey's family.
Every Wednesday night, The Dance Studio holds Salsa Night. At 8pm you can go along to a class to learn how to salsa, which costs $14. This is followed by a salsa dance session at 9pm.
If you're already a pro, you can just head along at 9pm to dance, which costs $5. The salsa is so much fun and if you haven't tried it before it is bound to leave you in fits trying to pick up the steps. But once you get the hang of it, you'll never look back.
Quoting a favourite from Grease, "It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's what you do with your dancin' shoes."Have fun!
Feature event
Salsa night at The Dance Studio, on the corner of Howitt and Doveton Streets in Ballarat North. See more details above.
Something to listen to
The Unicorn Cafe on Sturt Street is fast becoming one of my most-loved places in Ballarat. Every day from 3.30pm onwards they have live music playing, which I think is such a great - and important - thing for Ballarat. So, if you're up for some tunes, head along this arvo and try out their chai latte - yum!
It’s uni night in Ballarat which means many of the pubs and clubs around Ballarat are sure to be planning a great night out for you. Tonight, DJ Sever is playing at the Eastern Station Hotel in Humffray Street North and it's free entry.
Like Royalty is covering Fall Out Boy at Karova Lounge, with tickets costing $5. Doors open at 8.30pm.
Something at the cinema
The Sapphires is screening at 4.45pm, 7pm and 9.10pm. Or head along to Gold Class at 7.30pm.
The Bourne Legacy is screening at 6.25 and 9.05pm. Otherwise, treat yourself to a Gold Class session at 6pm or 8.45pm.
Hope Springs is screening at 7.15pm and 9.20pm.
Something on TV
Wednesday nights are shaping up to be a great night of television. WIN is airing Farmer Wants a Wife at 8.30pm, which is followed by Dallas at 9.30pm.
Personally, I'm on the Puberty Blues bandwagon so I’ll be watching that from 8.30pm on Ten.
