Fifty years on and the NSW TAB is still a winner

"What A Flop." That was the early edition newspaper headline above the story of the first day of the NSW TAB, particularly the Angel Place branch. It was recalled by Ken Page, the branch manager who made a big contribution to the betting operation, during the first 25-year celebrations in 1989. A further 25 years down the track, the NSW TAB is a well-oiled, money-making machine but lacking the position when leading the field under chairman Ross Cribb and general manager Allen Windross. Hong Kong even sought the advice of the NSW TAB about the implementation of a betting system.
