Josh De Voogel and Miles Baker have both been given an opportunity to prove their worth with the Melbourne City youth league squad on Wednesday.
The pair will head down to City’s training base at La Trobe University in Melbourne.
The Red Devils duo was given the opportunity after their performances for St Patrick’s College, which played against some of Victoria’s best sides after taking out the Ballarat Associated Schools competition.
Initially, they will train with Melbourne City just once, although it opens the door for future links with the A-League club.
Reds manager James Robinson said it was an invaluable opportunity for the teenagers to learn in one of the best soccer environments.
“It’s good for the club, it’s good for St Pat’s, but most of all it is good for the boys,” Robinson said.
“It gives them a chance to be part of top-level football and see how they compete.”
De Voogle, 15, plays as a winger/forward and was part of Ballarat’s under-18 squad this year.
Baker is a 16-year-old central midfielder who, despite his young age, was able to play seven matches for the Reds’ senior side in the National Premier League Victoria competition this year.
