A week out from Christmas, Sean Roscoe said his family was devastated after their Brown Hill home was targeted in November by burglars, stealing money, wallets and identification.

Then thieves returned a second time last week to Bells Lane and stole Mr Roscoe’s son Harry’s prized motorbike.

“It’s all he lives for. The bike was a Christmas present for him last year, and he’s got all his gear,” Mr Roscoe said.

“My son has been on the bikes for a good while now, and he was going to have his first race on the first week of February. 

“We can’t afford a new one for him, now he will have to miss out.

“Hopefully someone hands it in.”

The terrible incidents capped off a hard year for the family after Mr Roscoe’s wife, Kelly, underwent chemotherapy and surgery for breast cancer.

Thankfully, Mrs Roscoe had her final operation on Monday.

“We were rebuilding as a family and now this has happened,” Mr Roscoe said.

Ballarat Police Detective Senior Constable John Jess said items including a wallet and cash were stolen from cars at the property on November 11 between 12am and 7am. 

On December 12, the home was targeted again when thieves stole an Atomic Nitron 150cc motorbike from the front verandah of the home between 1.30am and 8am.

Senior Constable Jess said the number of offenders was currently unknown.
