The Sebastopol veteran has enjoyed an almost unprecedented start to the Ballarat District Bowls Pennant year, claiming titles at the over-60s Victorian State Singles championships, BDBD open singles and her fourth club singles championship in five years.
“I’ve shocked myself a bit, to be honest,” Harman said.
“Because I’ve been winning events, I’ve been playing a lot of bowls (due to the knockout style of a lot of BDBD tournaments).”
Harman joined the Burras in 2001 and finished runner-up in her first tilt at a singles championship before claiming top honours in the 2002-03 season.
An eight-year hiatus saw her take time away to look after her grand
children, before she returned with a bang to take the top honours at club level from 2011-13 and again this season with a 25-16 victory over Cherril Helmore on Thursday.
Harman has also been a pivotal force in Sebastopol’s division one midweek side, which is currently sitting fifth on the ladder with seven rounds left until finals.
While she has plenty of commitments left at pairs, triples and fours before the season is out, Harman is setting her sights on success at regional and state level.
“It would be really great to go on and get a single title at region or state level,” she said. “Then there’s also the champion of champions to compete.”
“I just want to thank the members of the Sebastopol Bowling Club.
“They’ve supported me really well this year and had a great turn out for the over-60s singles at Ocean Grove.”
