Fletcher has replaced Dr Ian Fulton, who has stood down after four years in the role. Fulton will remain on the BTC committee, but not part of the executive.
Fletcher was voted in as the next chairman and the only change to the executive at the annual general meeting earlier this month. Con Powell was returned as deputy chairman, David Fara as treasurer and BTC chief executive Lachlan McKenzie as secretary.
There was also no alterations to the club’s committee, despite five candidates standing for three positions.
Fulton, Fara and Powell were current board members restanding, with John Penhall and Anthony Schreenan the other two candidates.
The election was conducted by postal vote, which returned Fulton, Fara and Powell to their positions for another term.
Fletcher said his time as mayor helped him see BTC’s impact on the region.
“It really tweaked my interest and I thought (when I left local government) I wanted to continue to give back to the community and thought it was a great fit ... to be part of the community through the turf club,” he said of his decision to join the club’s committee in 2012.
McKenzie thanked Fulton for his efforts in the role since 2010 and welcomed Fletcher into the position.
“The club is most fortunate to have someone with such strong business acumen, strong knowledge of governance related matters and leadership skills in the chair,” McKenzie said.
“Craig’s leadership will ensure that the BTC continues to grow and prosper.”
