Hives is set to meet number three seed Nives Baric in the Ballarat Open Gold AMT women's singles final on Tuesday morning.
The Ballarat star, seeded number four, sealed her spot with an upset semi-final win against top seed Viktorija Rajicic, 6-4 7-5, on Monday afternoon before stepping back out on court at Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre to win her way into the women's doubles final as well.
Hives has stormed through the main draw after a bye in the opening round to defeat West Australian Megan Kauffman, 6-4 6-1, then disposing number five seed Maree Teiwa Casey, 6-2 6-2.
She will team with fellow MCC Tennis Academy player Katherine Westbury in the doubles final for a tough assignment against Rajicic sister duo Viktorija and Monika.
Westbury, available for media yesterday, was hoping for good hometown support for Hives in their campaign.
"This is the first time we've played together but we play for the same club and occasionally train together," Westbury said.
Westbury was seeded number two in the women's singles and bowed out to Baric in a three-set semi-final.
Determined to cut her ranking in the professional futures tour, Westbury said Ballarat offered good preparation for a big summer ahead.
"All the big tournaments in January will have similar warm and humid conditions to what we've had in Ballarat," Westbury said.
"The Ballarat format is actually tough, playing a couple of matches every day - even in the futures you only play one match per day.
"You just have to make sure you stretch, cool down and warm up again properly, drink plenty of water and take care of your body."
Men's number one Daniel Byrnes played on in the tournament on Monday, despite seeking hospital treatment for kidney stones on Sunday night.
Still visibly distressed, Byrnes won his quarter-final but was overcome by wildcard entrant Stephen Hoh, 6-4 7-5, for the spot in the men's final.
Hoh will face Australian number 53 and Ballarat number two seed Aaron Leeder-Chard in the final on Tuesday morning.
Men's doubles top seeding Jeremy Beale and Chanchai Sookton-Eng will meet Stephen Hoh and Daniel Ferretti in the final.
Both singles finals are scheduled for a 9.30am start with doubles finals to follow.
