The pools on the Gillies Street end of the centre will be shut from January 19 until the end of March.
However, the 25-metre and Learn-to-Swim pools can still be used.
Ballarat City Council’s major project manager Mark Powell said access to the spa and steam room will continue, with only some short-term interruptions expected.
The rest of the centre will remain open as usual but will close for
one day next month for electrical works on the 50-metre pool.
“Work on retiling of the multipurpose pools – and the connection to the new 50-metre pool – will start on Monday, January 19 and continue until the end of March,” Mr Powell said. “Both multipurpose pools will be unavailable during these works.
“We thank patrons for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience these temporary works may cause.”
Gentle warm-water aqua and Active Links aqua classes will not be held and swimming lessons will be scheduled in the Learn-to-Swim and 25-metre pools only.
If patrons have a particular need to use a warm-water pool for therapy or medical purposes during this time, they can contact the BALC as limited places are available at the Ballarat Health Services Queen Elizabeth Centre hydro pool.
The centre’s western car park will also be expanded, with works expected between February and April.
There will be restricted or no access to parking in this area during this time but the car park near the tennis and hockey areas will remain open throughout this period.
