Pring was an integral part of the Lakers’ 2010 senior premiership and president Dave Clifton said the club was excited to welcome a favourite son back into the fold.
“He’s a fantastic player. He’ll be really good for us,” Clifton said. “He played all his junior football for us and he’ll come back bigger and stronger.
“Playing in one of the stronger clubs (in the Central Highlands), he’s probably been heavily tagged each week, so he’ll appreciate that we won’t have as much attention put on him with us.”
The goalkicking midfielder has been a notable representative of Central Highlands’ past three interleague victories.
A stellar 2014 season saw him poll 18 votes in the Central Highlands best and fairest count, aided by five best-on-ground appearances.
Pring’s inclusion comes on the back of former Greater Western Sydney Giant and two-time VFL best and fairest winner Steve Clifton signing on as assistant coach. The Lakers have also signed former Carisbrook prospect and North Ballarat Roosters-listed ruckman Jackson Bowen. The 2015 season shapes up as a big year for Lake Wendouree, with Clifton hoping for a 20-year reunion in round three against Sebastopol.
The Lakers’ home ground of Wendouree Reserve is in the midst of a resurfacing phase, with winter grass set to be sown in February.
Clifton said the club would not play its first home match until round three, with the ground needing at least six weeks to settle after the sowing.
However, progress remains on pace for the $1 million redevelopment.
“We’ll be training on it through to February and it’s looking fantastic. It looks like you could play billiards on it at the moment,” Clifton said.
