Short had his first taste of Big Bash League action and now the Melbourne Renegade wants more.
The East Ballarat and Central Highlands' export took a wicket on debut before a passionate Perth Scorchers' crowd at the WACA on Friday night.
Short was told a little of what to expect out there but what he found still blew him away.
"Before the game coaching staff told to expect a bit of abuse from the crowd - that's what they're like over there, it's all one-sided. I soaked it all in," Short said.
"It was such a loud crowd.
"It's amazing how Cricket Australia can put on such a good show for the players and for the fans."
The 18, 207-strong crowd was the largest Short has ever played before.
Short's debut continues a big summer for the just-turned 19-year-old. Promoted to the Renegades and Victorian Bushrangers' primary lists, upgrades from a rookie, made his Bushrangers' firsts debut for a one-day match in early October.
Short took up the ball, replacing Andrew Fekete, for the fourth over against the Scorchers.
He conceded 12 runs but, when returning in the 12th over, nabbed first wicket for the Renegades when Scorcher Marcus Harris went for a slog short that Renegades skipper Aaron Finch caught in covers.
Short said it was disappointing for the Renegades that it took so long to get that first wicket and break the opening partnership.
Personally, it was nice to capture a wicket on debut.
Short finished with 1-26 off his three overs and, batting eighth, was given little chance to settle in the Renegades' desperate chase, making two runs.
The 35-run loss to the Scorchers puts pressure on the Renegades to quickly turn their season around, especially with their first home game at Etihad Stadium against Sydney Thunder on Tuesday night.
Short said the vibe was still good and players were ready for the challenge.
