Christine Cavanaugh, the voice of Babe in the classic 1995 children's film of the same name, has died at the age of 51.

The voice actress also played Chuckie Finster on Nickelodeon's long-running series Rugrats, Dexter on the Cartoon Network's Dexter's Laboratory and numerous other roles.
Cavanaugh's voice featured alongside the voices of Hugo Weaving and Miriam Margolyes in the American-Australian production of Babe, which won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe in 1996. Magda Szubanski appeared in the film.
Cavanaugh's big break came in the 1991 television series Darkwing Duck, in which she voiced Gosalyn. Her other voice credits include Marty Sherman in The Critic and Oblina in Ahhhh Real Monsters.
"She was able to do incredible and amazing things with her voice and bring lots of smiles and many laughs to many people who are now young adults," the Los Angeles Times said in an obituary.
"Christine lived her life the way she wanted. Accolades, notoriety, and recognition were not the reason for her interest in entertainment, it was for the love of entertainment, to make people smile."
She also made occasional live-action appearances in television series including ER, Everybody Loves Raymond and The X-Files.
Cavanaugh died of unknown causes on December 22, Variety magazine reported. In 2001 she announced her retirement from voice acting to spend more time with her family.
