Cartledge prepares for Saturday's Daylesford Women's 100-metre Gift as the newly crowned Maryborough title holder, having captured her first women's sash at Princes Park on New Year's Day.
The 16-year-old will get her start off 7.75m in heat one with event backmarker Sophie Taylor (2.5m) in the red.
Cartledge is one of four Ballarat sprinters in the Women's Gift field at Cricket Willow. Her POD Squad stablemates Delany Keating (8.25m), Cleo Anderson (7.5m) and Grace O'Dwyer (6.5m) are also in contention.
Geelong athlete Angela Byrt won the Daylesford sash off one metre last season but is not returning to defend her title.
Cartledge is familiar with victory at Cricket Willow. She won the women's under-18 100m final last year and showed strong form in South Australia's Bay Sheffield earlier this week.
Newcastle's Marty Sinclair will work to defend his Daylesford Gift 100m title off 9.5m.
Sinclair captured his title with a limp, largely due to a busy race program, but will have no room for fatigue this time.
A fired-up Maryborough Gift victor Matthew Eddy is hunting the Maryborough-Daylesford double after a strong finish at Princes Park.
Eddy snared his second marnarrow andquee Maryborough sash days after finishing an agonising third in the Bay Sheffield feature race.
The 34-year-old says he is in the best form of his life in a continued comeback from a year sidelined with a groin injury.
Eddy will start off 7m at Cricket Willow in heat three, which will feature Australian world championship representative Matt Davies off scratch.
Ballarat's Jordan Keast (8m), Peter O'Dwyer (8.5m), Rod Mathews (9.5m), Nathan Dixon (6.75m) and Daniel Martin (10m) are also named to contest the top Daylesford sash.
Martin was among a string of Ballarat athletes to dominate the podium at Maryborough. He won his first VAL sash when he topped the veterans' 300m final.
