Jeffrey’s team was sent packing from the titles without a ball being bowled on Wednesday when rain forced its qualifying final clash with Gippsland Pride to come to an abrupt end.
Gippsland progressed to the semi-finals because it finished higher on the pool table than the Highlanders.
“It’s disappointing but (we) understand you need to have rules in place in these sorts of tournaments because the show must go on,” Jeffrey said.
Central Highlands lost its opening-round fixture against Northern Falcons on Sunday, won against Outer East Eagles on Monday and then had games on Tuesday and Wednesday washed out.
Meanwhile, Central Highlands under-14 girls had a tough start to their state carnival, going down in both of Wednesday’s encounters against Gippsland Pride and South East Sharks.
The Highlanders under-16 girls started their campaign with a tie against Metropolitan Inner South East before going down to South East Sharks by 11 runs in a low-scoring affair in the afternoon.
