The group, made up of 1200 members, has up to five 4WDs cleaning rubbish dump sites each weekend.
Group organiser Belinda Smith said their work had paid off – five illegal rubbish dumpers had been fined in the past two months.
“Sometimes we find personal details within the rubbish that are then handed over to the Department of Environment and Primary Industries and the council to then follow up on,” she said.
A recent clean-up at Lake Burrumbeet saw several ute-loads of rubbish cleared from the area.
“For starters, we are a large 4WD group within the community; we want to keep these areas open for future use,” Ms Smith said.
“Most of the time, the clean-ups are not scheduled or organised, members are just out four-wheel driving and find the rubbish.”
Ms Smith said the club hoped to organise regular clean-ups within the community.
“Our future aspirations is to organise regular clean-ups, but unfortunately, the cost of disposing is expensive,” she said.
