It’s also a time to reflect on what makes Australia so great.
Is it our fabulous weather, our beautiful cities and towns, our welcoming oceans and waterways, our freedom? For many who now proudly call Australia home, it would be the welcoming nature of this great nation.
For many years, Australia has opened its arms to those seeking a better life, for others seeking a different life, for those wanting to start a new adventure.
People from all parts of the globe and all walks of life have chosen to move to Australia and are now proud to call themselves Aussies.
And the diversity of those emigrating to Australia was no more evident than during a ceremony in Ballarat on Friday, when 15 people became Australian citizens. They came from the Philippines, Brazil, India, Britain, Sri Lanka and Togo.
So, on your first Australia Day as Aussies, we say g’day to you.
While on the Australia Day theme, congratulations to the many who received Australia Day honours for their contribution to the country.
Congratulations to all recipients for a much-deserved honour.
