Art Sci-fi event When: Saturday, 6pm
Where: Ballarat Observatory, corner of Cobden and Magpie Streets, Mount Pleasant
Details: The Ballarat Observatory is bringing back its sci-fi event for the second time. Come and learn about some of the fascinating aspects of science and science-fi ction. There will be activities and music on the lawn of the observatory
fun activities for the kids, trivia quiz challenge, lecture on “The Evolving Science and Art of Science Fiction”and music from the Surf Shadows and Dolphy’s Albatross playing 60s place and surf instruments among other styles. Cafe will be open by BYO food and drinks. Visitors will also be able to use the telescopes (weather permitting). Entry is $20 for families, $10 adults, $8 concession and $5 children. Fair Woven Worlds exhibition When: Saturday, through to March 22

Details: The gallery presents ‘Woven Worlds: Ten years of ‘en plein air’ tapestries’, an exhibition of exquisite and fi nely woven landscape tapestries by Cresside Collette. Comprising 25 small-scale tapestries, the exhibition celebrates the artist’s decade-long journey refi ning a method of tapestry weaving inspired by the Impressionist tradition of painting outdoors in the open air or en plein air.
