A MAN has stolen a valuable gold diamond ring from a Ballarat jewellers on Saturday.

The suspect is believed to have entered the Armstrong Street South store just before 2pm to enquire about Valentine's Day gifts for his girlfriend.
A sales assistant said the man had been in the store about 20 minutes before the incident.
The yellow gold, diamond cluster ring is estimated to be worth $1600.
The man is believed to have fled the store in a getaway car.
The sales assistant spotted a female in the passenger's seat.
Police are investigating the incident.
