To be held as part of the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research fundraiser on February 15, the ride will take in Nerrina State Park and the White Swan Reservoir in a route organised by members of the Ballarat-Sebastopol Cycling Club.
Event organisers Philip Timpano and Antanas Spokevicius said the ride would be a good alternative for Cycle Classic veterans looking for a new challenge.
“The road ride’s been running for a while now on the same course, so this is a good chance to do something a bit different,” Mr Spokevicius said.
“We’ve found some nice little hills (in the 50-kilometre event) for the half-serious mountain biker.”
The 25-kilometre course takes in a few of the same sights, but without the tougher climbs, and would suit the more relaxed riders or people wanting to give the dirt a go.
“Rather than having a race, this is about getting on your bike with your mates. It’s a bit more relaxed,” Mr Spokevicius said.
