An all-Australian line-up of rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll bands have travelled across the country to perform at this year’s festival which kicks off on Thursday night at The George Hotel.
Rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll bands including South Australia’s The Satellites and The Lincolns, Melbourne’s No Brakes and The Sky Rockets from Warrnambool will perform at various venues throughout the four-day event.
Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival event manager Kate Burrows said that an all-Australian line-up for this year’s event was an essential component that organisers believed would attract festival-goers.
“The integral part of this year’s festival was about embracing the quality of (our own) rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll performers,” she said.
“We wanted to make this year amazing. We spent quite a bit of time making sure there is a great mix.”
Ms Burrows said the music component of the festival had become a crowd favourite with fans taking to the dance ‘floors’ across Lydiard Street with their moves from the swinging ’50s.
“People come from far and wide just for the music,” she said.
“There is a lot of dancing going on.”
Other Australia bands joining the line-up include Ezra Lee, The Pacifi c Belles and The Dirty Boogie Band.
All band performances are ticketed events, with tickets now available at Ticketmaster.
