The driver allegedly reached speeds of up to 130km/h before the crew-cab utility slid off a dirt road and into a tree just after 4pm.
He was airlifted by helicopter to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash followed a pursuit at 3.20pm, which was called off by police.
It is believed there were passengers in the vehicle.
“Police observed a car allegedly speeding on Yendon Road at Mt Egerton just before 4pm,” Senior Constable Melissa Seach said.
“(The) car failed to pull over for police and continued to speed. The police pursued the car for a short period of time before the car crashed on a dirt road in Lal Lal just after 4pm.
“The male driver was arrested at the scene and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at The Alfred hospital.”
