Williams will perform with Year 7 Ballarat Grammar student Cooper Harwood and Year 8 Mt Clear College student Zachary Lee at the first Piano for Pleasure concert series for 2015.
One of his favourite places to perform, Williams said he looked forward to returning to the Art Gallery of Ballarat for the series which will see him perform an original composition as well as old favourites.
“Maurice Ravel is at the centrepiece of my program for the Piano For Pleasure concert,” he said.
“I’ll be playing two pieces of his, the Forlane from the Le Tombeau de Couperin Suite and the famous Pavane pour une infante defunte.
“These two works are highly contrasting and show the breadth of expression of which Ravel was capable,” he said.
“The other major work in my program is an original composition of mine entitled Concertantissimo.
“This piece was originally composed for a school project last year, but has recently been reworked and expanded. This work is basically my own spin on the typical Late-Romantic piano concerto and, as such, I’ve tried to make it as passionate, virtuosic and grand as possible.”
Williams will also perform alongside highly acclaimed pianist Gerard Willems on Saturday, March 14 at the Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts.
The first free Piano For Pleasure Concert will be held on March 8 at the Art Gallery of Ballarat at 2.30pm.
