Fans of the Play School favourites have the chance to meet the faces behind the popular television show when the Play School National Tour comes to Ballarat’s Federation University in March.
The new live show, Once Upon A Time, will give children the opportunity to see their favourite nursery rhyme characters come to life, as they listen to stories, and, sing and dance with Play School’s biggest names.
Specially designed for pre-schoolers, the concert will be presented by television host and Alex Papps. Papps said the always popular concert allowed children to interact with characters they know from Play School, something that is impossible to do through a television.
“Children have the chance to come along with their family and see a stage version of what they have come to know on TV,” he said.
He said for many children it was often their first time watching a live show. For Papps, who grew up watching Play School himself, he said the concert was just as fun for adults .
“It’s enormous fun, now in it’s 49th year it is still regarded as a piece of early childhood culture,” he said.
Papps said it was the popular rhymes, stories and audience interaction that left children smiling after each show.
