I am writing this second public statement to Simon Ramsey, because yesterday I happened to be listening to radio news and had the misfortune to hear Mr Ramsey launch yet another attack on Brett Edgington, the president of Ballarat Trades Hall Council -in fact the only things I seem to have heard from him recently have been attacks on Brett.
I can understand why Mr Ramsey has chosen to avoid trying to defend the TAFE cuts (apart from toeing the party line about the TAFE blowout) because they are indefensible, but to resort to the sort of personal attack he continues to launch on Brett and to continually attack his professional integrity as he is doing, is stooping way to the bottom of the gutter.
I believe, or at least I certainly hope, that Mr Ramsey's strategy will actually backfire, because the many of us who know Brett, have the greatest respect for him.
Brett has been instrumental in leading the campaign against the TAFE cuts, not for any political or personal gain, but because he fully understands what the wider consequences of these cuts are going to be on the Ballarat community as whole.
