From the past we have learned that children are the collateral damage of decisions publicly claimed to be in their best interest. Secrecy surrounded practices in all of these matters, as it does now around refugees and detention centres.
I am disgusted hearing current politicians pleading their "goodness" in a tone that expresses no compassion or sadness for the children now in detention centres.
I cannot question their intentions, because only they can know those, but I do know the harm trauma and abuse does to a child's brain development.
We need a royal commission now. It will be too late in 30 years' time.
